go see your little brother!!! if you've forgotten his number, i'll email it to you. if nothing else, you can walk and talk to him while he does his job walking dogs - love - mom
My trip last week was my first trip to Chicago too, but I was out in the 'burbs most of the time and don't feel like I even really saw the city itself... so I'm like no help at all.
Depends on the weather. If it's nice out, walk along the lakefront. There's a great walk and bike path that stretches for miles. Or just pick a neighborhood and walk around in it: Wicker Park, Lincoln Park, North Halsted / New Town / Boys Town... whatever! There's a lot of great walking spots to choose from.
If it's chilly or wet or otherwise yucky, I second Kat's suggestion of having Chicago's signature deep-dish pizza. Gino's East is outstanding, as is the original Pizzeria Uno, which is really nothing like the chain that bears its name. The pizza is SO much better at the real location.
Or check out a museum, like the Field Museum, the Adler Planetarium, the Shedd Aquarium, the Art Institute, etc etc etc!

Do what I always do...
Drink a pina colada at Trader Vic's and then grab a pie at Gino's East.
I swear I'm gonna get at least one blogger to try Gino's East before I die.
How exciting :)
Have a great time, and I want to see photos ;)

You almost can't go wrong.
Doh! I'm in Chicago last Thursday, Friday, and this Tuesday. I'll miss you by a day. Find ye an ethnic neighborhood and start snapping.
I'm with Kate O'...
Field Museum.
Art Institute, absolutely..it is so wonderful you will shed tears..right next to wonderful Grant Park.
Genos or Uno are both great options.
Really, Art Institute.
