A Father in the ER at Midnight

I wish I was a doctor. He's my seventeen year old son and he's been in pain for over a week. He's lost over 10 pounds because he can't keep anything down. The doctor thought maybe gall bladder, but the CT scan said everything was fine. Tonight he just about passed out. So much school, so much work, so much pain, so little food or drink in his system.

And so off to ER he went. Properly hydrated and the ultrasound found...nothing wrong. Probably viral. Ugh. He's in such pain and is so weak. Seventeen year olds are immortal, right? Not tonight. And I helplessly just watch. Polite with doctors, polite with all concerned, I ache. He aches more.

He's seventeen. He'll be fine. This stuff will pass and he'll be back to good soon enough.

Sorry you are dealing with this, sorry he is dealing with this. When the kids hurt, its maddening for us, because we cannot fix it.

Try and get some rest, too, ok?

Take care of your son, and yourself.

This is so hard. Like Mack said, you can't fix it, but you so badly want to do just that.

Take care, Bez family, and let us know how he's doing.

Ooof . . .

The Extrovert/Introvert family sends good thoughts of healing, comfort and rest to the Bez family.

So sorry you two had to go through that. Sound like he'll be better though :)

how very scary! please keep us posted.
My friends and I noticed a young employee at the Cool Springs movie theater last night who was obviously ill. He said he had not been able to keep anything down for a while. Everyone was telling him to go the hospital. That's not your son, is it?

Thanks everyone. I'll give an update when I hear how he is later this morning. This support is so nice and helpful.

And Emily, that's my son you saw. He works at the theater.

It tears me up more to see my big boy hurt now than it did when he was little. I don't know what that's about. I hope he's ok.

Your Mom is a fine Lady and she surely thinks a lot of Christian. So he must be an awesome kid. My best to him and I will be thinking of you all.

Regards,

Bill

Thanks to everybody. For better or worse (better I guess, but I wish he would give himself a day of rest), he's back at work today and saying that he feels better than he has all week.

I guess he just needed that IV to get him back to good.

Thanks again.

I hope he feels better soon. I too know the helpless feeling you get when you take a child to the ER.
